Building a New Foundation

By June 28, 2024Education

We’re excited to see the continued progress of our latest school expansion project in Jericho!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve completed the foundation and started constructing the modular classrooms that will make up the new space. We’re thrilled to see these buildings come to life and prepare to welcome our students next year when our oldest group starts the seventh grade!

This progress has been so encouraging after almost eight months of canceled trips and diverted plans because of the ongoing conflict around us. However, despite the hardships, Seeds of Hope still stands out in the community as a beacon of hope and support, thanks to your generosity.

We are one of the few humanitarian groups in our area that doesn’t rely on government funding, which has been in short supply since the war began. Not only is government aid limited, but government employees have seen their wages cut dramatically in recent months.

Like during the pandemic, Seeds of Hope is one of the few organizations still able to pay our full salaries, keep our programs running, and provide aid to countless families in need through food distributions and tuition assistance.

“Seeds of Hope is the youngest organization in Jericho. People have been watching us grow since 2009,” Khader Ghanim, Seeds of Hope CEO, shared. “I have been in several public meetings where people say that Seeds of Hope is a unique organization with the services that we provide to the community. They say our education is the best, and our employees feel secure since we can pay our staff and keep our commitments.”

That stability and trust are only possible through your faithful support of Seeds of Hope! No matter what we’re facing, we know that we have a global family with us every step of the way. Your consistent support has enabled us to keep taking steps toward our future in such an uncertain time.

While we’ve worked to keep things as normal as possible for our students and staff, the last few months have certainly taken a toll. Without project teams and tour groups visiting, we’ve seen a significant dip in our projected fundraising. That, combined with our construction expense, has left us with a gap in our educational operating fund.

While some of this deficit was planned as we took advantage of expansion opportunities, we feel it’s prudent to focus on closing that gap and rebuilding our financial margin in this season. We’d love to ask you to help us build up our funding!

“We want to keep our programs running and stay in strong financial shape,” says Khader. “Since October 2023, we have not had any groups visit, and traveling for fundraising has not been easy in this unstable situation with the war. You have always been faithful to Seeds of Hope. Your prayers and support have always kept us strong.”

We need to raise $133,000 by the end of August to put us in a solid financial position heading into the new school year. This funding will ensure that we can continue our high educational standards and the trust we’ve built with our community.

We look forward to the day that project teams will be able to return to Jericho. While our region still lives in uncertainty, we are anchored in the certainty of our faith, which will carry us through this challenging time. As always, we are so grateful for your support and friendship, which keeps us going!

Thank you for investing in the lives of children and families you may never meet but who are undeniably better because of your generosity. You’re spreading hope and creating lasting, generational change in the Middle East and beyond!
