This past week, while Christians around the world celebrated Easter, a small but faithful community in Jericho gathered to do the same. It was a time of worship, reflection, and renewed focus on the hope we have in Christ.
Though Christians make up only a small percentage of the population here, many families have deep Catholic or Greek Orthodox roots. But for many, faith is simply a tradition—passed down, not deeply understood.
At Seeds of Hope, we’re passionate about helping people move beyond tradition to discover a living faith based on a personal relationship with Jesus. However, with such a small Christian population, resources for spiritual growth and development are hard to find.
We want to help Christians in our area bridge that gap. And we’re starting early.
Thanks to your support, we recently launched a new Bible study as part of our After-School Program. Led by Regina Shaheen, the group currently includes 12 children, ages 5–12, who gather each week to explore the Bible, pray, and enjoy crafts and games that reinforce spiritual lessons.
“We believe that God’s Word has the power to change lives,” said Regina. “Many of the children come from traditional Christian families. Our goal is to dig deeper and discover what the Christian faith is really about. We pray that these kids will not only be Christians by name, but make a decision to follow Christ with their whole heart.”

Most schools in Jericho start teaching English around the sixth grade, but at Seeds of Hope, we begin in Pre-K because we know it will take root more easily. We’re approaching this Bible Study in the same manner. The earlier children are exposed to the Bible and what it truly means to be a Christian, the bigger an impact it will have on their lives going forward.
“I’ve always loved to teach children. It’s a passion of mine,” said Regina. “When I am teaching, I feel like I am fulfilling my calling. There is nothing more important than teaching the eternal Word of God.”
While many of our programs aim to build bridges across communities and share values widely, this Bible study is a powerful example of how we’re also going deeper—nurturing a generation that will know Christ personally.
Because of you, more children will grow up understanding what it means to have a personal relationship with their Heavenly Father. They will grow up with a hope that transcends their circumstance and changes the world around them. We’re investing in a generation of Christians who will know that faith is more than labels or traditions, it’s a relationship that can impact every aspect of our lives.
Every donation you make to our operating expenses goes to fund programs just like this Bible study, paving the way for faith to flourish in Jericho and beyond.
We’re so grateful!
