We just wrapped up two of the most action-packed weeks at Seeds of Hope, and we’re beyond grateful that they were even possible!

Seeds of Hope Summer Camp is the highlight of the year for many children in our community. For over a decade, this camp has been a place where kids come to play, grow, and learn together. They love it so much that many former campers return as teenagers to be what we affectionately call “mini-leaders,” investing in the new campers.

In light of the ongoing conflict and uncertainty in our area, the local government has requested that any unnecessary events be canceled until further notice. We weren’t sure that camp would even be possible this year.

However, we knew that as long as it was safe, we had to find a way to have camp for our kids. It was the joy and normalcy they needed during such a tense, fearful time.

We met with the local government, discussed the precautions we would take, and got special permission for our summer camp to continue! They know how seriously we take the safety and care of our children and trusted us to make the right decisions.

“We’ve seen firsthand how essential this space is for the kids,” said Simon Shaheen, Seeds of Hope Culture Center Director. “The camp offers a chance for them to momentarily escape the heaviness of what’s happening around them and dive into creativity, play, and personal growth.”

With every fencing class, art project, water slide, and skit, the campers rediscovered the joy and hope of being a kid. They reconnected with a community that cares about them and learned valuable lessons about hope, love, and leadership.

Because of your ongoing support, our campers had a safe space to be kids again. To dance. To create. To feel joy. And in a season like this, that joy is no small thing.

Simon summed it up best:

“It felt like a breath of fresh air—not just for the children, but for the whole community.”

Thank you for making programs like this possible. Your generosity and support are making a difference in Jericho!
